Search Hockley County Inmate Records

Hockley County inmate records are searched first through the county jail roster, which lists people booked into local jail custody. A Hockley County jail roster search can help confirm whether a person is in custody, which agency made the arrest, and whether a bond or court clue appears beside the charge. The same search does not cover every possible custody system. State prisoners, federal inmates, immigration detainees, and older booking files use different channels, so a complete lookup starts local and then moves outward when the roster does not answer the question.

Hockley County Jail Roster

The official local starting point is the Hockley County Sheriff page, which links to the public Hockley County Jail Roster. The roster is hosted by Interop/Synergistic Software and is built around three public views: Current Inmates, 24 Hours Arrests, and Inmates by Arrest Date. That matters in Hockley County because the roster is not just a static name list. It can show current custody, recent bookings, released entries within a short window, and date-range arrest results.

The Hockley County Jail is the only detention facility identified in the county facility map. It is operated by the Hockley County Sheriff's Office, and it receives bookings from the sheriff, Levelland Police Department, DPS Hockley County arrest reporting, and other local agencies. A Levelland Police arrest can therefore appear in the county jail roster after booking. The roster is best for pretrial county custody, short county sentences, municipal or JP matters booked into the jail, parole holds, and other local jail entries. It is not the right search for someone already transferred to the Texas Department of Criminal Justice, the Federal Bureau of Prisons, or ICE custody.

Use Hockley County Records

Most Hockley County inmate records searches should start with the current roster. The name fields are optional, so a blank search can show the paginated current list, while a last name and first name can narrow a common surname. During research, the current roster showed a paginated result count, and the arrest-date page showed a broader date-window result set. Results should be read carefully because one visible row can include several warrant or charge lines.

  1. Open the sheriff page and choose Hockley County Jail Roster, or go directly to the roster portal.
  2. Use Current Inmates for people believed to be in the jail now. Leave the name boxes blank to browse, or enter a last name and optional first name.
  3. Use 24 Hours Arrests for new bookings and recent releases. That view may show CURRENTLY BOOKED or RELEASED status.
  4. Use Inmates by Arrest Date when the booking date is known. Set the calendar range, then run Search Inmates.
  5. Copy the name, arrest date, agency, status, total bond, warrant number, statute, description, and court value if one appears.
  6. Call the jail if the roster has no match, if a bond value looks stale, or if a hold may block release.

A roster charge is a jail booking or warrant entry. It is useful, but it is not always the same as the final court charge filed by a prosecutor. For court filing status after booking, the Hockley County court-record path is separate from the jail search.

Hockley County Search Fields

The roster has a small field set, but the tabs add useful context. Current Inmates and 24 Hours Arrests use the same name filter pattern. The arrest-date view adds calendar controls and is the better choice when the person has been released or when only a booking period is known. Use exact spelling from the roster when moving to court records, public-information requests, or VINELink searches.

Hockley County Record Fields

A Hockley County inmate record shows the public booking fields on the result page itself. No separate profile click is needed for the core data in the inspected view. The roster also makes clear what it withholds. Residential address is redacted, and the inspected public list did not show date of birth, booking number, housing pod, release date, court date, race, hair color, eye color, magistrate name, or internal classification.

FieldWhat It Shows
Booking photoA front-facing photo when available, or an ImageNotAvailable placeholder.
Name and statusUppercase name plus custody status, such as CURRENTLY BOOKED or RELEASED on some tabs.
Sex, height, weightBasic roster descriptors; height appears in numeric roster format and should not be reformatted by guesswork.
Arrest date and agencyBooking date with arresting agency on some views, including sheriff, Levelland PD, and DPS labels.
Days in jailCount of days in county custody as of the roster date.
Total bondNumeric total, NOT SET, DENIED, or REDACTED depending on the entry and roster tab.
Charge tableWarrant number, counts, statute, description, M/F column, and per-charge bond amount when published.
CourtShown on the arrest-date tab, with examples such as County Court, District Court, and Municipal Court.

Bond values need special care. A total amount can appear beside one or more charge rows, but a parole violation, detainer, denied bond, or not-set bond can still prevent release. The jail phone is the channel for confirming whether a listed bond is current and whether the person is eligible to leave custody.

Hockley County Jail Contact

When online records do not answer the question, use the jail and sheriff contact channels documented by the county. The sheriff page names Sheriff Chris Wischkaemper and lists the jail and sheriff office at the same Avenue H address. The county research did not locate a separate records-unit email or a 24-hour booking desk description beyond the jail phone, so phone confirmation is the practical fallback for current custody, bond, visitation, and operational questions.

For older booking records, jail incident records, mugshot copies not visible online, or other records not shown on the public roster, use the Texas Public Information Act route under Government Code Chapter 552. If the arrest was made by Levelland Police, the city also publishes an LPD open records request page.

Hockley County Visit Rules

Official Hockley County pages reviewed for the research did not publish a complete visitation schedule, video-visit vendor, mail rule sheet, commissary vendor, money-deposit method, or phone-rate table. That absence is important. Do not rely on generic Texas jail rules or vendor names for this facility. Confirm all visit, mail, funds, and phone details with the jail before traveling or sending money.

County State Federal Searches

A failed Hockley County roster search does not always mean the person is free. It may mean the person was released, moved to state custody, held in a federal process, or searched under the wrong name. For sentenced Texas prison custody, use the TDCJ offender search. No TDCJ unit was identified inside Hockley County, so the state locator is a statewide transfer search, not a local facility page.
